At present, the major brands of peanut oil in supermarkets are known as "special fragrance", "pure" and "golden ratio". According to the sales staff, there are two kinds of peanut oil, one is pure peanut oil, only peanuts in the ingredient list, the price of 5 liters is about 150 yuan per barrel; the other is peanut blending oil, which ingredients are soybean oil, rapeseed oil, peanut oil and so on. However, the reporter noted that many peanut blended oil products, peanut oil in the ingredients list ranked behind. Taking a 5-liter peanut blending oil as an example, its main ingredients are soybean oil, rapeseed oil, peanut oil, sesame oil and so on. Industry insiders pointed out that according to the requirements of the national standard, the label of edible oil production enterprises should "indicate the name of the oil used in the raw materials from large to small according to the proportion of raw materials". That is to say, this product is actually called soybean oil.
An edible oil dealer revealed that the national standard of "edible vegetable blending oil" had not been issued after many years of consultation, leaving some enterprises with the opportunity to use it as an auxiliary or even less than 10% of peanut oil to name the whole product, which became the "hidden rule" of the industry. In fact, this is exaggerating propaganda and misleading consumption. In addition, there is another reason why peanut oil is becoming more and more impure. Since last year, because of the reduction of peanut planting area and weather reasons, peanut prices have remained high, so some enterprises have mixed other cheap oils into peanut oil.
So, what is the way to identify pure peanut oil? Industry insiders point out that freezing can be used to identify. Because of the characteristics of peanut oil itself, pure peanut oil will flocculate, semi-coagulate or even completely coagulate when it is below 12 C. As long as the refrigerator freezer is set to about 10 C below zero and the oil is put in for about 10 minutes, half of the pure peanut oil begins to flocculate, and the peanut oil mixed with a large amount of soybean oil is almost only slightly coagulated at the bottom.
